The exciting, colorful and tragic biography of Canadian F1 racer Gilles Villeneuve. "Never has a champion been profiled in such a masterly way... A must for all who follow F1." Pino Allievi, La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Gerald Donaldson, who covered Formula 1 racing since before his subject's premiere at the pinnacle of motorsports, has provided a very informative and in depth look into the life of famed Ferrari driver Gilles Villeneuve. Many of those close to Villeneuve - such as his wife, Joann, and teammate & 1979 world champion Jody Scheckter - were tapped for their insights and the author also includes many contemporary quotes from drivers and racing journalists of that era (the late 1970s & early '80s). The 300+ page book covers the famed driver's life right from his birth to just after his premature death in 1982.

There are 16 pages of photos and, at the back of the book, Donaldson includes an index, a comprehensive list of Villeneuve's race results and the final standings of each of the seasons of Formula 1 in which the little French Canadian competed, plus diagrams of all the race courses from that era. And, yes, his coverage of the action in each of Villeneuve's races is quite detailed.

All in all, a very interesting and entertaining read about the man many consider to be Formula 1's greatest daredevil, if not quickest driver. Enjoy.
